Setup guide: hub, lock, calendar, test code.
About five minutes per property. Not sure your hardware fits? Run the compatibility check first.
1. Connect your hub
SmartThings
- After creating your account, choose SmartThings.
- Sign in with the Samsung account that owns the hub and approve access for the location with your locks.
- You're returned to Lock Orchestrator with your locks listed.
Hubitat Elevation
- On the hub: Apps → Add Built-In App → Maker API.
- Tick the locks (and any thermostats, switches or dimmers to automate). Save.
- Copy a cloud endpoint link. The part before
/devicesis the Maker API URL, e.g.https://cloud.hubitat.com/api/HUB_ID/apps/APP_ID. Theaccess_token=value is the token. - In Lock Orchestrator choose Hubitat and paste both.
Use the cloud URL, not http://192.168.x.x/.... Why.
You can connect several hubs, SmartThings and Hubitat together, to one account.
2. Pick your locks
Choose which discovered locks Lock Orchestrator should manage; billing counts the locks you add. Before going further, make sure each one accepts 4-digit codes.
3. Add a property and its calendar
Create a property per rental, choose its time zone, pick its locks and paste the iCal export link. Where to find the link (menu names change from time to time; look for "calendar sync", "export" or "iCal"):
| Platform | Where the export link lives |
|---|---|
| Airbnb | Listing → Calendar → availability / calendar sync settings → Export calendar. Copy the link ending in .ics. |
| VRBO | Host dashboard → the listing's Calendar → Import/Export → export link. |
| Booking.com | Extranet → Rates & Availability → Sync calendars → export link. |
| PMS / channel manager | Usually per listing under calendar, channels or iCal export. |
| Anything else | Any public .ics link. Links to private or local network addresses are refused. |
If the same rental is listed on several platforms, use the calendar of whichever one holds all bookings (your PMS or channel manager, typically). The feed is read every 15 minutes; use Sync on the Properties page to pull upcoming stays in right away.
4. Verify a test code
- On the property, find the next upcoming reservation and choose Activate.
- The badge shows working while the lock is asked to store the code, then active once the lock confirms it. This normally takes under a minute; the limit is 5.
- Try the PIN at the door.
- Choose Deactivate to remove it. It'll be written again automatically before the real check-in.
If it shows error, read the per-lock message. The usual causes are covered in troubleshooting. Retries continue on their own.
After setup
- Turn on email notifications in Settings to hear about programmed, removed and failed codes.
- Set battery alert thresholds for your locks from the Locks page.
- On Hubitat, add check-in and checkout automations for thermostats, switches and dimmers from the property's Automation page.
Try every lock free for 7 days.
Every lock and every feature, with no limits and no card. Connect a hub, pick your locks, paste a calendar link, and activate your next booking early to see its code verified on the door. About five minutes per property.
